A non-invasive massage to the abdominal area, incorporating Chi Nei Tsang techniques to enhance energy flow to all major body systems and the internal organs. A combination of abdominal breathing techniques, gentle massage and deeper work around the abdominal and navel area using specifically tailored aromatherapy oils, will help to stimulate the body's natural systems to effectively eliminate physical and emotional wastes and stimulate bowel movements that can become irregular due to stress, dietary issues or medication.
To gain maximum benefit, a series of treatments is recommended - commonly 5 - 6 weekly or twice weekly sessions to achieve best results.
About the Abdomen
Lifestyle factors such as poor postural habits, exercise regimes, repetitive stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional stress all lead to abdominal tension and pain. Often, the abdomen is neglected during massage, due to feelings of embarrassment, discomfort or vulnerability associated with this area. This is understandable, due to the fact that the critical internal organs located in the abdomen are exposed with little body protection. However, the abdomen is a primal area of emotion and nervous tension and massage that neglects this area misses a critical place where perhaps the deepest tension in the body is stored. Increased awareness of the abdomen during massage can put an individual in touch with suppressed emotions.
The abdomen is considered to be the 'core' of the body and exercise based on control of the muscles, such as yoga, abdominal flattening exercise and meditative exercises are all focused here. Abdominal massage goes deep into the muscles, which can help to strengthen the spinal area and relieve lower back ache.
Emotions as well as physical strength can be related to the core of the body, as so much energy is transferred through this area. When we do not process our emotions, they become stored here and are often felt as 'butterflies'. Stresses and emotions cause the small intestine and colon to become 'kinked', which can block the flow of peristalsis, impede blood flow and reduce digestive enzyme secretions. This can lead to constipation, indigestion, ulcers, diarrhoea, leaky gut syndrome, uterine prolapse, heartburn, gastritis and eventually Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Crohn's Disease, as well as many other disorders and diseases. Abdominal massage can help to alleviate the symptoms, as well as release the stress, tension and emotional build-up that can cause these symptoms.
While stress management, healthy eating habits and proper exercise are crucial for digestive health, including abdominal massage in your routine can increase other efforts by at least 25% or more.
